Enemies

Enemies are divided into several ‘classes.’ All enemies within a class would have the same movement, AI, attack pattern, and basic posture, but they may vary stylistically. (For example, pick-wielding Miners and axe-wielding Lumberjacks are both "Swingers".)

These are the basic enemy classes:

Forkers (Pitchfork)
A crazed pitchfork-wielding peasant, a staple of any violent village mob.

  • His default posture is to hold his weapon pointing upwards, and jumping on him then will cause damage while leaving the forker unharmed.
  • When he sees Wendi (facing in the right direction, within range, and both Wendi and forker having same y-coordinate), he lowers his weapon and charges, which is the perfect opportunity to jump on him.
  • Roaring stuns him for a while, with his fork in the same position as it was just before he was stunned.
  • He only sees you if he is facing you, but he turns around at regular intervals.

Flamers (Torch)
An angry peasant armed with a flaming torch.

  • His default posture is to hold his torch overhead, so you cannot jump on him. He doesn’t charge, but rather swings his torch quickly, so it is very difficult to time a jump.
  • Use Wendi’s Roar to extinguish his torch. He’ll stand scared for a while before relighting the torch, and you can jump on him then.
  • His detection range is the same as the Forker.

Swingers (Axe/Pick)

  • This large manly man wields a big axe. He carries his weapon over his shoulder, so Wendy cannot jump on him in his default state. * The Axe Guy attacks with a heavy overhead swing. Dodge it, and his axe will get wedged in the ground. Jump on him while he struggles to pull it free.
  • Roaring does not affect him.

Pluggers (Gun)

  • This annoying guy will shoot you from across the screen, so getting close enough to kill him without getting can be a challenge.
  • Luckily, he has no "weapon up" position, so you can jump on him while he's in any state.
  • His AI is: shoot a random number of times, then run away in the opposite direction. Wuss.

  • The Forkers, Flamers, and Pluggers will all have the same medium-build body type, and will be fairly quick. The Swingers will be larger and more muscular, but slightly slower. The amount of damage each enemy type inflicts has yet to be discussed, as we are still not set on how "damage" will be addressed as a mechanic.
